Targeted Investment Program

Purpose

The Targeted Investment Program is a venture debt program that aims to increase the success of small businesses. It provides financing to targeted small businesses that demonstrate high-growth potential over a relatively short period of time, have received first or second round equity investments and are active within an existing value chain.

The program is federally funded with the purpose of supporting growth and expansion of small businesses within technology and innovation targeted industry sectors.

For Whom

Early-stage Ohio companies that have already received professional investment (pre-seed, angel, venture capital) and have at least a two-year operating history. Prospective borrowers need to demonstrate the ability to attract follow-along private investment.

How Much

Loans may finance up to 50 percent of project costs with loans ranging from $500,000 to $5 million. The targeted average loan amount on this program is $1 million.
