Ohio companies can receive free, confidential counseling from Export Assistance Directors that are located throughout Ohio. Export Assistance Directors assist small and medium-sized businesses with topics such as international business planning, market research, export documentation, local product requirements and logistics.

Ohio Development Services Agency

The Ohio Development Services Agency recognizes the challenges related to starting or increasing export sales. To this end, the Agency partners with the U.S. Small Business Administration support the Small Business Development Centers Iocated across the state. Serving as the first point of contact for businesses, the Centers offer free, in-depth and confidential counseling. Services include:

U.S. Commercial Service Export Assistance Centers

The U.S. Commercial Service offers a network of export and industry specialists located in more than 100 U.S. cities and more than 80 countries worldwide. These trade professionals provide counseling and a variety of products and services at free and reduced costs to assist U.S. businesses export their products and services. The Food Export Association of the Midwest USA

The Food Export Association of the Midwest USA is a private/nonprofit group that provides assistance and promotes the export of food and agricultural products from the Midwestern region of the United States. Food Export-Midwest offers a number of educational offerings for companies that are considering exporting to get them started on the right path and help them become export-ready. They offer free and low-cost seminars, webinars and many tools on their website, foodexport.org.

There is also a Food Export Helpline that offers one-on-one counseling for export related questions related to helping companies prepare for exporting. The Food Export Helpline is a free service but companies must register. More details can be found here.  

SCORE Ohio Chapters

SCORE Ohio Chapters offer free, confidential business counseling in a one-on-one setting. With 10 chapters across Ohio, a counselor is easily accessible to a business and offers flexible meetings. SCORE Ohio Chapters also offer free and low-cost workshops and events to help small and medium-sized businesses get on the right track!
