Clean Ohio Assistance Fund

House Bill 496 recently provided $47 million in capital re-appropriations for the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund program.  Twenty percent of the net proceeds for the Clean Ohio Revitalization fund are dedicated to the Clean Ohio Assistance Fund (COAF) for brownfield redevelopment in Eligible Areas. The Urban Development Division will begin accepting applications for the COAF program beginning July 1, 2008. 

Eligible applicants undertaking projects on properties located in an eligible area may expend the dollars on two activities: Phase II Assessments, Brownfield Cleanup/Public Health Projects. Awards will be made by the Director of the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD). Separate applications shall be submitted for each activity.

The criteria applications will be evaluated on include: economic benefit; environmental improvement; appropriateness and reasonableness of the proposed project; the financial condition of the community; project readiness and other factors as determined by the Director of Development. Please call the Urban Development Division for e-mail submissions or submit via fax to 614-466-4172.

NOTICE:
Evidence of the library receipt, the newspaper public notice, and the property sign should be faxed or emailed to the Urban Development Division within three days after the newspaper notice is printed.  

The applicant must post the following information on their website or other local government websites accessible to the community:

2. Legal notice
3. Contact information

NOTE: All documents for the COAF program, including application forms and policies, have been revised.  The revised forms supersede all previous versions.  Previous versions submitted to the Urban Development Division will not be accepted.
