GOVERNOR, PATT-MCDANIEL ANNOUNCE PROJECTS
TO CREATE AND RETAIN 6,851 JOBS IN OHIO
Projects Invigorate Regional Economies, Leverage Investment in Ohio
COLUMBUS – Ohio businesses and communities will receive more than $1.5 million in economic development grants to aid business growth, leveraging capital investment of more than $70 million. The State Controlling Board today approved grants administered by the Ohio Department of Development that are expected to create 382 jobs and retain 6,469 positions.
"These grants are helping Ohio companies invest in our workforce, creating good-paying jobs within our communities and positioning Ohio's economy for long-term growth," said Governor Ted Strickland.
"Leveraging substantial investments within our targeted industries helps fuel Ohio's economy," said Lisa Patt-McDaniel, Director of the Ohio Department of Development. "The lasting results from these investments will stretch across the State of Ohio, stimulating our economy and creating jobs."
Anderson and DuBose, Inc. (Trumbull County) will receive a $36,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in the City of Warren. Anderson and DuBose, Inc. was founded in 1991 and is currently based in Solon, Ohio. The company is a privately held S-corporation and distributor of food, paper, and beverage products to 488 McDonald's restaurants. This project is expected to create 50 jobs.
Composite Technologies Company, LLC (Montgomery County) will receive a $25,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in the City of Dayton. Established in 1994, Composite Technologies Company is a molder and manufacturer of composite resins. The company provides environmentally friendly product solutions, which are primarily 100 percent recycled post-industrial waste in content, for corporations such as Huffy, Lifetime Products, Parker Hannifin, and John Deere. This project is expected to create 50 jobs and retain 73 positions.
Diehl Food Ingredients, Inc. (Defiance County) will receive a $35,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in the City of Defiance. Diehl Food was founded in 1870 and owned and managed by the Diehl family until May 2006, when it was purchased by Performance Chemicals & Ingredients Company. The company has had business activities in brewing, dairy processing, and specialty ingredients and now specializes in spray-dried creaming agents, whipped topping bases, fat-based powders, and specialty dry-based systems for fortified non-dairy beverage systems. This project is expected to create 25 jobs and retain 75 positions.
General Electric Company (Hamilton County) will receive a $1 million Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in the Village of Evendale. General Electric produces large and small jet engines used for commercial and military aircrafts, supplies aircraft-derived engines for marine applications, and provides aviation services. The Village of Evendale is home to the company's 400-acre, 6 million-square-foot worldwide headquarters, and the company has additional locations in the surrounding area. This project is expected to retain 5,000 jobs.
North Star BlueScope Steel, LLC (Fulton County) will receive a $175,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in the Village of Delta. North Star is a privately owned, Ohio-based steel recycling facility, annually manufacturing more than 2.1 million tons of flat-rolled steel products. This project is expected to retain 343 jobs.
Sanoh America Inc. (Fulton County) will receive a $60,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in the Village of Archbold. Sanoh America started in Findlay in 1987 and is a subsidiary of Sanoh Japan, a publicly held company established in 1939. The company is a worldwide producer of chassis brake and fuel products, in addition to powertrain components. This project is expected to create 28 jobs.
Specialty Services, Inc. (Lorain County) will receive a $50,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in the City of Oberlin. Specialty Services is a privately owned machine shop specializing in thread turning and the machining and custom assembly of iron castings. Over the past three years, the company has deigned and developed wind turbine electric generators targeted for small commercial and residential applications. The generator is able to collect wind from any direction without adjustment and can be mounted on rooftops. This project is expected to create 25 jobs and retain 100 positions.
Sugar Creek Packing Company (Butler County) will receive a $20,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in West Chester Township. Sugar Creek Packing Company primarily focuses on manufacturing bacon and is one of the largest independent bacon processors, with more than 1,200 employees in seven operating facilities. This project is expected to create 50 jobs and retain 75 positions.

The Thaler Machine Company (Warren County) will receive a $40,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in City of Springboro. Thaler Machine Company, established in 1952, is a privately owned manufacturer of precision machine components for the aerospace and automotive industries. The company designs and develops components for multiple applications, including prototypes and full-scale production. This project is expected to create 35 jobs and retain 76 positions.
Veyance Technologies, Inc. (Auglaize County) will receive a $115,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's project in St. Marys. Founded in 2007, Veyance Technologies, Inc., is a manufacture of conveyor belts, military road wheels, and other rubber products. This project is expected to create 40 jobs and retain 321 positions.
