Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) -   Have you ever had a problem with your business’ utility bill, wanted to know how your business can cut expenses by conserving energy, or wondered what all the items mean on your business telephone bill?  The PUCO can help you sort questions and mediate your disputes with regulated utilities.

 
 

Ohio Power Siting Board - The Ohio Power Siting Board's mission is to support sound energy policies that provide for the installation of energy capacity and transmission infrastructure for the benefit of the Ohio citizens, promoting the state's economic interests, and protecting the environment and land use. 


Ohio EPA Small Business Compliance Assistance - There are many small businesses that are subject to environmental laws and, although small business owners want to comply, they are often not aware of the laws that apply to them. Recognizing these challenges, Ohio EPA offers compliance assistance to help small businesses understand and comply with the environmental regulations that apply to them. The services of the office are free, non-regulatory and available to small businesses with fewer than 100 employees.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources Coal Mining Regulation - In addition to the mining and reclamation laws, operators must comply with a host of other local, state, and federal laws and programs to maintain a permit to mine coal in Ohio. Federal laws include the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Federal Coal Mine Safety and Health Act, Endangered Species Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, National Historic Preservation Act, the Archaeological and Historic Preservation Act, and Executive Order 11593 that relates to the protection of both historic and pre-historic sites.  ODNR can help your business through the web of regulations.


Ohio Department of Natural Resources Oil and Gas Regulation - Mining permit applications typically require comprehensive reviews involving numerous staff including geologists, environmental specialists, engineers and others. The average time required to review and process a coal permit is typically six (6) months. Conversely, it is mandated by the Ohio Revised Code to complete oil & gas permit reviews within twenty-one (21) days.


Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Geologic Survey - The Energy Resources Group of the Ohio Geological Survey investigates the subsurface geology of Ohio and its relationship to petroleum. The Energy Resources Group also conducts basic research on injection of hazardous waste into the subsurface and on earthquakes in Ohio. The Energy Resources Group also oversees computerization of the Survey and the development and management of the Survey's Geographic Information Systems.
