Ranked by Revenues or Market Value has just been revised to included updated information from Forbes Magazine which is our Table 6 in Section 2 of the Major Ohio Employers report showing Global 2000 Companies based in Ohio.

Target Employment Areas - EB-5 Targeted Employment Areas (updated 05-2012)

This can be found under the information section of our home page. The Ohio Department of Development is the State of Ohio agency that calculates sub-county unemployment rates and designate counties, census designated places (CDP), and cities or towns that meet the "high unemployment area" definition and therefore qualify for the $500,000 minimum investment threshold as non-rural TEAs for Eb-5 program purposes. the Ohio Department of Development is currently using 2011 employment data from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and the 2010 ACS 5-year estimates posted by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Economy - Per Capita Personal Income (pdf) (updated 05-2012)

This publication has been updated to show 2011 data for Ohio and 2010 data for the 88 counties housed within the state. The PCI for Ohio was $37,791 (33rd in the country). This was an increase of 4.5 percent (20th in the country) from the previous year according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Since 1969, per capita personal income has had an annual increase as high as 11.1 percent which occurred during the 1970's and as low as -3.4 percent in 2010. The 2011 total personal income for Ohio was estimated at nearly $436.3 billion.

Business & Industry - Industry Series - Bio-Health: The Service Cluster (updated 05-2012)

Another section is being added to the already posted 4 pages on manufacturing entitled The Service Cluster which starts on page 5 of the report. These pages concentrate on Ambulatory Health Care and its contribution to the Ohio Economy as well as employment in fields such as chiropractors, optometrists, mental health providers (excluding physicians), specialty therapists, podiatrists, etc. More than 26,000 worked at outpatient centers while 7,000+ worked in medical and diagnostic labs and 11,000+ worked in other ambulatory services. R&D biotech industry contributed nearly 3,000 employees.

Business & Industry - Bio-Health in Ohio: The Manufacturing Cluster (added 04-2012)

Eleven industries from three industry groups produce goods for use by the health care industries. Together they add about $3 billion in value, or about 2.5 percent of all manufacturing output from Ohio, according to the latest economic census. Two of the groups - pharmaceuticals and medicines and medial equipment and supplies combined for approximately 83 percent of the cluster's output. Pharmaceutical industry was the single largest contributor followed by surgical and medical instruments with surgical appliances and supplies next. These particular industries combined for 70% of the cluster's output.

Business & Industry - Ohio Imports 2011 - State of Destination (pdf) (updated 04-2012)

This report has just been updated showing that Ohio merchandise imports were valued at more than $59 billion in 2011, an increase of 12.8 percent from 2010. By comparison, the United States experienced a 15.4 percent increase in imports since 2010. Ohio was the 11th largest importing state with 178 countries and territories giving point of origination. Nine countries shipped over $1 billion in merchandise to Ohio and 45 out of 98 commodity groups recorded imports exceeding $100 million with 15 surpassing $1 billion. Machinery was the leading import ranking Ohio 8th among the 50 states in this category with 3.7 percent of the U.S. total.

Sheet 1 shows births from 1950 to 2010 by County for Ohio; Sheet 2 shows deaths from 1950 to 2010 by county for Ohio; and Sheet 3 shows a graph comparing the 2 different items. this information is obtained from the Ohio Department of Health and is also used in our Population Projections report.

Section 1 of this report is the latest to be updated. It contains Ohio's Top Employers, Ohio's Leading Manufacturing Employers, Ohio's Leading Financial Employers, and Ohio's Leading University Employers. Also updated is Section 3: Historic Section by adding the 2011 Top Employers.

Business & Industry: Industry Series - Polymers in Ohio: Plastic & Rubber Snapshot (pdf) (updated 03-2012)

Ohio's plastic and rubber products industry produced goods with a net addition to the economy of $4.45 billion in 2009, or 7.8 percent of the U.S. total, ranking the state first in the nation. The $4.45 billion represents .96 percent of Ohio's Gross Domestic Product. this is greater than the industry's corresponding .4 percent of U.S. GDP, indicating a concentration of the industry here.


Business & Industry: Industry Series - Ohio's Finance Industry (pdf) (added 03-2012)

Latest available data shows Ohio's finance industry provided services valued at $21.9 billion - about 4.3 percent of the U.S. total and ranking the state as #7 in the nation. The $21.9 billion also represents 4.7 percent of Ohio's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This is greater that the finance industry's 3.7 percent of U.S. GDP, indicating a concentration of the industry here.

Business & Industry - Ohio Exports 2011-Origin of Movement Series (pdf) (updated March, 2012)

Ohio Merchandise exports were valued at $46.4 billion in 2011, an increase of 11.8 percent from 2010. By comparison, the United States experienced a 15.8 percent increase in exports since 2010. Ohio was ranked 9th largest exporting state; 216 countries and territories received exports from Ohio; 8 countries received over $1 billion in Ohio exports; and 41 of the 88 commodity groups recorded exports exceeding $100 million with 10 surpassing $1 billion.
