Ohio Balance of State Homeless Management Information System 

Overview

The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) is required to maintain an unduplicative count of the number of people seeking assistance from homeless service providers and more accurately report information regarding the number of persons served through federally funded homeless assistance and prevention programs. HMIS is a computerized data collection system designed to track Ohioans who are receiving homeless prevention assistance or are experiencing homelessness. ServicePoint is a Web-based product designed to assist social service agencies and communities in managing client information and resource data. ODOD entered into a contract with Bowman Internet Systems to purchase ServicePoint software for the department’s participating agencies. The system will enable ODOD Office of Community Development award recipients serving homeless persons or helping to prevent homelessness accurately track client intake, produce system-wide reports and better provide homeless persons with needed services. The project is funded with a $1.2 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant and Ohio Housing Trust Fund dollars.
